eWood as a name إيوود كإسم

لماذا تم إختيار (إيوود) من ضمن الأسماء؟

يأتي الإسم إيوود تماشيا مع التسميات التي طرأت في تسعينيات هذا القرن بعد شهرة الإنترنت.  كالإسم التجارة الإليكترونية (إيكومرس) أو الحكومة الإليكترونية (إي غوف). وبما أن  الحاسبات الآلية كانت جزء كبير في حياتي وأصبحت فيما بعد مجال دراستي وعملي، فقد كان من الطبيعي أن أخلط هواياتي الأثنتين معا وهما الحاسب الآلي والأعمال الخشبية.  وقد قمت بإنجاز ذلك من خلال إستخدام بعض البرامج التي تخدم مشاريعي والتي أصبحت جزءا لايتجزأ منه. وكمثال لهذه البرامج:

1.  كوريلدرو - برنامج رسم ثنائي الأبعاد رابط البرنامج.
2. سكتش أب  - برنامج رسم ثلاثي الأبعاد رابط البرنامج.
3. كت لست - برنامج لإعطاء أفضل طريقة لقص الخشب رابط البرنامج.
4. برامج خاصة لتشغيل آلة ال(سي إن سي) مثل كت 3دي و في كارف رابط الشركة.

Amongst other names, why (eWood) was chosen?

The name eWood was inspired by the names that were created after the Internet was popular during the 1990's. Such as electronic commerce (e-commerce) or electronic government (e-gov). Since computers took a big part in my life, and later, were my field of study and career, it was natural to mix the two hobbies together (computers and woodworking). That was done through the use of computer programs that help me with my woodworking projects. Example of these programs:

1. CorelDraw - 2D drawing program Program link.

3. Cutlist Plus - Planning the best way to cut wood Program link.
4. Special programs to design and carve/cut wood on the CNC machine Company link.

Woodworking Projects مشاريع أعمال خشبية

كما كتبت سابقا، هوايتي في أعمال الخشب إبتدأت عندما إحتجت لبوابة خارجية لمنزلي ولم أجد نجار ينجز هذا المشروع حسب طلبي.

بعد أن أنجزت المشروع الأول (المدخل) وجدت عشق للأعمال الخشبية.  ووجدت بأن هناك أعمال كثيرة يمكن إنجازها يإستخدام الخشب والذي بدوره يعطي جمالا أكثر من إستخدام المواد الأخرى كالحديد مثلا.  كما أن الأعمال الخشبية تعطي منظرا أكثر طبيعية للعمل المنجز.  لهذا بدأت أبحث عن مشاريع أخرى أقوم بإستخدام الخشب فيها.  ومنذ ذلك اليوم، وأفكار المشاريع بدأت تنهال علي حتى أصبحت هناك قائمة بالمشاريع التي تنتظر التنفيذ.  هذه صور لبعض المشاريع التي قمت بها...شكرا للمتابعة

As I have blogged before, my hobby in woodworking started when I needed a gate for the outside of my house, but couldn't find a carpenter that would do the job to my specifications.  By the time I had finished my first project; "The Entrance", I had discovered a passion for woodworking!  I also found out that there are a lot of projects that could be done in wood, which has a natural beauty that other materials don't- steel for example.  That is why I began looking for more projects I could create in wood.  From that day on, I was flooded with project ideas.  Now, I have a list of projects that are waiting to be executed.  Pictured here are some of the projects that I have completed...thanks for reading.

كما ذكرت سابق كانت هناك الحاجة الماسة لإيجاد حل لمشكلة صغر المكان وإزدياد المشكلة نظرا للحاجة لشراء مزيدا من الأدوات والمواد.  كان هناك لدينا في بيتنا غرفة صغيرة جدا على ولكن يوجد بجانبها مساحة كبيرة للتوسع.  وهذا بالضبط مافعلته.  قررت أن أكمل الموضوع بالصور بدلا من الكلمات.  وكما يقولون الصورة تحكي ألف كلمة...

Continuing from last post...

As I mentioned before, I needed to find a solution for the "shrinking" of the work space, because of the continuing acquisition of more tools and supplies.  At our house, there was a small room on the roof that had a big space in front of it, which provided the possibility of expansion.  It was the best option for a workshop space...I decided to continue the post with pictures instead of words.  As they say: "a picture is worth a thousand words."

هذه مقالة عن تطور مشغلي.  لقد بدأت حرفتي في مكان من بيتنا نستخدمه كمخزن وغرفة غسيل, وكنت أشارك هذا الفضاء مع أمتعتنا التي كنا نقوم بتخزينها.  هذا لم يكن سهلا لأن التحكم بنشارة الخشب كان أحد المشاكل.  لذا كان علي أن أقوم بتغطية كل شيء تقريبا بالغطاء البلاستيكي.  وأيضا هذه لم تكن المشكلة الوحيدة.  مع إزياد الحاجة لشراء مزيدا من المعدات والمواد، المكان كان يزداد ضيقا شيئا فشئا.  بالتالي، لكل عمل كنت أقوم به، سواءا صغيرا أو كبيرا، كان علي إخراج كل الأدوات والمواد اللازمة ومن ثم إعدادها للعمل وثم إعادتها إلى أماكنها التي كانت فيه.  وهذا كان يأخذ معظم الوقت.  بما أنه كانت هناك شرفة ملاصقة للمخزن، فإن هذا الوضع ساعد قليلا.  ولكن كان من الواضح مع تقدم الوقت، بأني كنت بحاجة لمكان أكبر.

This is a post about the evolution of my workshop.  I started in our storage/laundry room, sharing my space with our stuff that we store.  It was not easy since the saw dust control was an issue.  So, I had to cover most everything with plastic.  However, that was not the main problem.  As I needed to buy more and more tools and supplies, the space was getting smaller and smaller.  In effect, for any job that I had to do (big or small,) I had to get everything out, prepare it, use it, and then put back again.  It was time consuming.  Having a balcony attached to the storage helped a little.  But, it was apparent as time progressed, that I needed a bigger space.

Next, I will write about what I did to overcome this problem.  Thanks for reading...to be continued!

The Tools! الأدوات

في صناعة الخشب هناك شيئان تحتاجهما وهما الخشب والادوات.  وباعتقادي أن من الأشياء التي جعلتني أهتم أكثر بالمهنة هي إهتمامي بأدواتها وتطلعي الدائم للحصول على أفضل وأحدث الأدوات.  هناك نوعان من الأدوات التي تستخدم في صناعة الخشب اليدوية والكهربائية.  إهتمامي كان أكثر بالأدوات الكهربائية لأنها تختصر كثير من الوقت اللازم لإنجاز العمل.  في مشروعي الأول قمت بشراء ثلاث من الإدوات الكهربائية وهما منشار صغير دوار ماركة ماكيتا ومفكان كهربائيان ماركة ديوالت وبوش.

In woodworking, there are two things you need - wood and tools.  I think one of the reasons that I was attracted to woodworking, was my interest in its tools. and searching for the best and new tools.  There are two kinds of tools that are used in woodworking; hand and power tools.  My interest was more in power tools because they shorten the time needed to get the job done.  Also, Power Tools are more accurate than Hand Tools.  I do buy tools, however, as I need them for the project at hand.  For my first project (Wooden Arbor), I bought three tools.  Makita circular saw; DeWalt cordless drill and Bosch cordless drill.
